Final review of Discovery Layer recommendation report - due Friday, January 31 at noon
by Amy Gannaway 29 Jan '25

29 Jan '25
Thanks to those of you who responded to the Discovery Layer poll. I wrote up the last paragraph of the recommendation report based on those numbers, which are Enterprise - 3 Vega - 1 Enterprise or Aspen - 1 Enterprise, Aspen, or Vega - 3 Based on the poll numbers and workgroup conversations, it does appear that overall Enterprise and Aspen are preferred by more people, although Vega would be acceptable as well. So I tried to say this in the last paragraph of the report: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QCMNsr_u0KweJSFj3-DBCfIDVxDWXMLjW2LjjAp… Please look over the report and let me know if you think there should be any additional changes or clarifications by Friday, January 31 at noon. Updated draft report and Discovery Layer recommendation poll due Tuesday, January 28
by Amy Gannaway 27 Jan '25

27 Jan '25
Hello! At the Workgroup meeting on January 13, the group decided to eliminate Bibliovation and Bibliocommons from consideration. That leaves three products: Aspen Discovery, Polaris Vega, SirsiDynix Enterprise. To determine a final recommendation, please vote for one or more of these products by Tuesday, January 28. Click here for the link to the poll<https://forms.gle/v7Pqx1DjtjxRVtVL9>. Also, I made some additional updates to the Discovery Layer Workgroup report<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QCMNsr_u0KweJSFj3-DBCfIDVxDWXMLjW2LjjAp…>. Please look over the updated report and let me know if you have any other changes. I still have one outstanding issue (in yellow) to follow up on and then after the poll is done I can add the recommendation at the end. The group can recommend more than one product, or can indicate that the group is split and that some people prefer one product over another. If you feel that any of the products would work and you don't have a preference, you can also indicate that on the poll. For the purposes of this poll, we are only dealing with the Discovery Layer. The recommendation should be based on the functionality of the Discovery Layer and not the overall system. Thank you, Amy _____________ Amy Gannaway (she/her) Technical Services Consultant South Central Library System 1650 Pankratz Street Madison, WI 53704 agannaway(a)scls.info 608-242-4712

ILS Evaluation Discovery Layer Workgroup draft and January meeting poll
by Amy Gannaway 03 Jan '25

03 Jan '25
Hello! At our last meeting we talked about our impressions of the four Discovery Layers reviewed and I mentioned that the next step is create a preliminary recommendation report. I have created a draft of a report based on the meeting, the vendor demo checklist notes, and any vendor follow-up. The demo checklists notes and demo follow-up are linked here: https://www.scls.info/ils-evaluation-2024-2025#DL. Also, I have attached the notes from our last meeting. To move forward with the putting together the recommendation reports, there are a couple of tasks that I am asking you to do. Poll for January meeting I have created a poll to find a date for a January workgroup<https://rallly.co/invite/Ks4qmbNzsjsB> meeting. Please complete this poll by Tuesday, January 7, so I can schedule the meeting. Preliminary report Here is a draft of the Discovery Layer Workgroup Report<https://docs.google.com/document/d/1QCMNsr_u0KweJSFj3-DBCfIDVxDWXMLjW2LjjAp…>. Each system has a pros and cons section. I have filled in some pros and cons based on the demos and discussions. Please review this draft and add your own pros and cons. I don't have a deadline for this right but everyone should have reviewed this by our meeting, so the deadline is by the meeting (yet to be scheduled). At our meeting we can review this and make the final recommendation to the Lead Workgroup. There are some outstanding questions that have been sent to the vendors and I expect to have these answers by mid-January. If you have any questions about this please let me know. Thanks and happy holidays!
